Empathetic, positive and very prepared, that's how people who know me define me

I am Raquel, founder and CEO of Arêna Pacific.

I was born in Madrid in the second half of the 70s.

As a child I spent hours browsing through the encyclopaedia looking in detail at the flags of all the countries in the world. I was passionate about it. I started studying languages (English, French, Italian and German) at a very young age in order to be able to talk to the people of the countries I travelled to.

I trained and was happy at El Pilar de Castelló in Madrid. Although one of my dreams was always to graduate in Dramatic Art, my father recommended that I study something “so as not to go hungry” and that is how he kept me away from a vocation that, to be honest, I still haven’t discarded. I listened to him, followed his advice and in 1999 I graduated in Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid.

I left Marketing in the third year for a better job opportunity at a large bank in Frankfurt.

A couple of years later, life and love took me to Milan, where, in addition to enjoying Italy, I continued to combine my career with my education. I did a master’s degree in Information Technology in the New Economy at the Bicocca University in Milan (2002) and a postgraduate degree in Selection, Orientation and Training of Human Resources in Milan in 2003.

At the end of 2005 I returned to Madrid and obtained the CAP (Curso de Adaptación Pedagógica) specialising in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2007, a Master’s degree in Finance and Alternative Investments from the BME Institute of the Madrid Stock Exchange (2009) and finally completed my training in 2020 with a specialisation course at IEB. All these very different degrees have allowed me to develop a rich and successful professional career in Finance in Frankfurt, Milan and Madrid.

My restless, curious and determined character, coupled to my deep personal empathy has made it possible for me to take a full 180 degree turn in life and now realise a dream that I had secretly harboured since my childhood -This being to design large Corporate and Private Events in exotic locations all through an exclusively created brand. To do so, I first studied and qualified as a Wedding and Event Planner at the University of Hawaii (Maui College) and at Lovegevity University in California (2021). Further studies a few months later allowed me to become an expert in ‘Protocol and Organisation of Business and Institutional Events’ at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce (2022).

I would like to thank my husband, my daughters, my mother, my sister and my friends for giving me all their support and love to fulfil my dream of creating Arêna Pacific, a wedding and event agency specialising in travel and celebrations in French Polynesia, Fiji and Hawaii.

Arêna has a much deeper meaning than “those particles of broken rocks that the wind moves from place to place on the shores of the sea or in the deserts“. As the letters of the word Arêna coincide with the first letters of my daughters’ names. This is how the name Arêna Pacific came about.

In 2011 I travelled to the South Pacific for the first time and fell in love with the place. I was enthusiastic about the culture, the dazzling landscapes, the people, the geography, the rites and traditions, the handicrafts, the gastronomy and, above all, the friendliness and relaxed lifestyles of its inhabitants.

I had four elements in my favour for the creation of Arêna Pacific:

Work experience with the most demanding of clients.

Creativity and imagination to design special and unforgettable trips.

Determination and commitment to overcome obstacles.

First-hand knowledge of the archipelagos of French Polynesia and Fiji as well as the Hawaiian Islands.
